Deep 6 AI: highlights from our 2017
2017 was a whirlwind of activity for us at Deep 6 AI. Armed with lofty goals and insightful feedback from customers and industry experts, we were heads-down, elbows-deep in work as we continued to evolve our product and spread the word about how artificial intelligence can transform patient recruitment for clinical trials. The hard work paid off! Here are a few highlights from our year….
We gained a lot of traction
We also formed partnerships with companies like Translational Drug Development (TD2) to guide trial feasibility, design and site selection, and accelerate oncology clinical trial recruitment.
Our customers are doing amazing things with our technology
We were excited to see principal investigators, clinical trial coordinators, and others using our solution for clinical trials ranging from breast cancer to opioid use to pediatric heart medicines and more.
But what’s most exciting for us is seeing real results – for example, finding patients for this clinical trial for young heart patients – and how our technology contributes to advances in medicine.
Aww, shucks! Awards and recognition
We won at SXSW!
Deep 6 AI won first place in the Enterprise and Smart Data category at SXSW. The SXSW Accelerator competition honored ten of the world’s most exciting new innovations from the more than 500 companies that applied.
We made the top 100!
Disruptor Daily named Deep 6 AI one of the top 100 most disruptive companies in the world in 2017. This list included the biggest names in innovation, such as Tesla, 23andMe, DeepMind, BenevolentAI, SpaceX and more!
Spreading the word: how AI accelerates innovation
Co-founders Wout Brusselaers and Brian Dolan were featured speakers at nearly 30 events in 2017, discussing the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare innovation and, specifically, how we leverage AI to find more patients faster for clinical trials. We led sessions, participated in panel discussions, and pitched at events including ACRP, MAGI, SOCRA, Medical Innovation Summit, American Heart Association Health Tech & Innovation Forum, Health 2.0, SXSW, Connect to End Cancer, TEDx, DIA, Disruptive Innovations to Advance Clinical Trials, CNS Summit, Big Data Day LA, and more. (See our event-related Twitter moments here.)
In 2017, we tripled our engineering team and hired a business development team, including former IBM Watson sales leader Bill Hutchins, to support the rapid expansion of our clinical trial patient recruitment solutions across hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and contract research organizations. We also outgrew our tiny office and relocated to larger digs to give us more room to work and expand as we keep up with demand. We didn’t go far – Pasadena is still our home – and we’re still scrappy and lean as we embark on this next phase of our evolution.
But, wait! There’s more…
We did our best to stay in the news in 2017 with over 40 stories. Check out some of these gems to learn a little more about Deep 6 AI.
